Take Action for Justice

In this section, we attempt to provide an answer to the question we are most often asked when people begin to understand the Israel-Palestine conflict: What can I do to help bring this crisis to an end in a just way?

Below are two lists of suggestions of ongoing ways you – either individually or as part of a group – can educate your community. We also recommend you visit our Action Blog for information on current national and international actions you may wish to be involved in.

We also provide numerous materials to download or order at a very low cost and distribute in your area. We will try to continually add resources to this section that will help you be as effective as possible.

What can I do?

Action ideas that take only one person.

• Pass out educational materials. (More info on how to distribute materials effectively.)
• Talk to your friends, family, and co-workers about the issue. Encourage them to visit our website, read through our materials, and watch documentaries.
• Host a speaking event or documentary-showing in your home.
• Write a letter to the editor or op-ed in your local newspaper (letter-writing tips).
• Send letters to your congress member or senators.
• Start a group or local chapter of If Americans Knew
• Donate to If Americans Knew.

What can we do?

• All of the above.
• Get a meeting with your congressional representative or one of their assistants to provide them with educational materials.
• Host a large-scale speaking event or documentary-showing in a community center, library, school, church, synagogue, or mosque.
• Conduct a media study of your local newspaper or television station and present the findings to their editorial board.
• Regularly table in a high-foot traffic area of your campus or town and actively distribute free educational materials to passersby. (More info on how to table effectively.)
